They require specific attention in terms of communication.

The form is as important as the content, and the quality of exchanges is the basis for solving potential or real conflict.

This involves anticipating crisis situations and implementing means to retain control over the internal and external communication processes in a crisis period.

Coaching in a Crisis Situation

Crisis Communication or communication in a Restructuring Process

Goals :

Control the impact of a corporate restructuring announcement :

  • on the company’s image
  • on the behavior of the players
  • on the implementation of the plan

The three circles :

  • the first circle is the company with its executives, first level management (OETAM), unions and employees
  • the second circle: customers, suppliers, shareholders, other sites, headquarters, European management
  • the third circle: institutional players (local and national administrations, labor administration), press and media.

In each circle and with each type of player :

  • create a level-based communication channel (or ensure that one exists)
  • develop messages
  • perfect support materials/train spokespersons

Success, therefore, lies in preparation: one writes a play, a story that will be proposed and will oppose stories told by others: so as not to leave symbolic space for the stories of others and allow for the company’s voice be heard. Do not steep in silence, which can be interpreted as guilt or disdain, but

  • explain effectively
  • avoid slippages
  • control the messages and act proactively
  • a strategic aspect (in relation to the environment, what strategy, what “story”?)
  • a preparation aspect (channels, support materials, messages, spokespersons, relays, schedule)
  • a tactical follow-up aspect (depending on the operations)
